When I was a child, I was in love with the idea of magic. I would act out adventures and stories all through my imagination in my backyard. The forest there was full of giants and fairies, and when a thunderstorm came, that meant a climactic battle was about to occur. I realized the magic in the world around me. I realized the magic of creativity. Still today, thunderstorms inspire creativity within me and are peaceful events for me.
I painted this during a thunderstorm. I let the patter of rain, the rumbling of thunder, and the shining of the lightning provide a meditative backdrop to my practice. I welcomed the magic of creation using the energy of nature to inspire me. This print will remind you that nature has a power over us all, and through creation, in art, and in everything that we do, we perform things that are "magical" making something new that wasn't there before.

As a kid, I was always enamored by stories about magical worlds and fantastic adventures. I loved all things magic. I became fascinated with picturing a world full of mystery and wonder. With the power of my imagination, I would even create stories and worlds of my own where I would act out long adventures full of mythical creatures, complicated spells, and harrowing quests all in my backyard. I would get lost for hours in my own mind, exploring these worlds and creating dialogue between me and imaginary characters. Sometimes I was lucky enough to have the company of a friend, both of us building this illusory world with just the power of our thoughts.
