A textured giclée print of my original painting using oil, ink, and wooden semi-spheres. I made this a comedic way to highlight the shallow conversations that occurred when I first began using a cellphone. I created a playful and recognizable representation of how we tend to message back and forth with my own interpretation on the right for how I feel our words come across.

I had always found it difficult to connect with people, and I made this to look onto that difficulty with humor. Having this playful image on your wall can help you laugh at the all too real topic.

For a long while after I had gotten a phone in my late teens, I remember being on it anytime and anyplace. I would immediately pick up or respond whenever I got any sort of notification. I was anxiously waiting for every moment to give me that gratification of someone’s attention. Each notification gave me that feeling that someone wanted me, that someone was going to talk to me. Responding to these rings, pings, and vibrations gave me more of a thrill than conversing with the people who were standing right next to me.
